The Cloud9 Training Grounds Community Spotlight Series showcases a great coach in the C9TG community each month who embodies the values of Cloud9 Training Grounds! Learning, Passion, Excellence, and Trust. This coach spotlight is Gingerpop, the Coaching Lead for VALORANT at Training Grounds!
Q: What is your name?
A: Brice Breakey
Q: What is your In Game Name and what is the story behind it?
A: Gingerpop! This was my nickname given to me by my teammates when I played collegiate soccer.
Q: How long have you been a part of Training Grounds?
A: Just under a year
Q: What do you love the most about coaching?
A: Coaching is one of the most fulfilling things you can do in life. Helping others get closer to reaching their goals and dreams would make anybody overjoyed.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of your job as Coaching Lead for VALORANT?
A: Watching our high-level teams go on and compete in tournaments together and continue after our camp is amazing. Keeping up with their journey and success is inspiring.
Q: What are some of the biggest lessons your players take away from your coaching?
A: I coach my players to not only be better at the games they play but also how to be better people. I have personally grown to be who I am through sports and gaming and constantly try to give away these fundamentals to the players I coach.
Q: What is your favorite memory from a Training Grounds camp?
A: Hearing clips of parents expressing how grateful they are to their child’s teammates and coach has been the most satisfying moments of Training Grounds for me.
Q: What is the best part about Training Grounds?
A: Without our coaches, this program would be nothing. Our coaches put everything on the line to give our campers the best experience possible. They work so hard to help every camper to get closer to their goals and aspirations day in and day out.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: As TG grows, I am working to grow with it. Putting so much time into this program has taught me how to manage and lead people in an area I am so passionate about. I love our coaches and want to continue to push them on the path to success. Down the line, I hope to have a large voice on how the camps are functioning and continue to steer this boat in the right direction.
Thanks so much, Gingerpop!
