Training Grounds League has been hard at work in the offseason to update our formatting based on the incredible feedback we received from our players last season.
Our coaches are trained and certified to provide you with a high quality experience unlike any other League.
Cohort Based Practices
You will work with another team in your cohort to help each other improve and dominate your season.
C9TG League will split divisions for those looking to enjoy playing competitively, and those looking to go pro!
The TG League was developed with the player in mind. We offer everything you need to get started with teamplay – and you will have an experience unlike any other League around. Both Leagues will focus on meeting the players where they are at in their training journey.
Training Grounds League is designed for League of Legends and Valorant players who want to experience a high-quality competitive environment and receive coaching from our certified TG coaches. This 10 week series will take you through a mini-pro experience, starting with a week-long tryout, a draft and team placement, scheduled weekly practices/matches, playoffs, and of course an awesome prize pool.
Even the best athletes in the world have coaches – just ask Serena Williams. You and your team will be coached by TG’s industry-leading coaches, guiding you through structured team practice, informative VOD review sessions, and a focus on individual improvement. Unlike solo queue, where your teammates are always random, you will work with the same group of players week by week.
You will initially be assigned to a group of 10 players, and you will spend your last day of tryouts playing scrimmage matches. Your coach will do a final check to ensure that your cohort team is as evenly skilled as possible, at which point you will be locked into your team of 5 for the remainder of the season. Within this group, you will scrimmage your cohort team, other teams within the league on practice days, and prepare you for your weekly matches.
You and your teammates will have access to the software at Insights.gg where you’ll be able to view advanced analytics about your matches and practices to learn what you did well, and what you need to work on. Insights.gg will also allow your coach to go back and review your POV demo and provide voiceover commentary, screen drawing, and text comments so you can review things on your own time.
TG League will be introducing a new feature this season – we will be working with our C9 pro players to provide drop-in streaming commentary on our weekly stream.
Team practices will consist of scrimmages and situational drills within your cohort. Your coach will educate you on situations that you will face in-game and allow you to repeat them multiple times a session to get your execution down. You will spend much of your practice time playing against the other team in your cohort and sometimes you’ll scrimmage against other teams within TG League. Expect regular feedback from your coach to improve as an individual and as a team, while scouting out the competition for your upcoming matches.
Regular season will consist of 5 weeks of play where you will face off against a team from another cohort. You will play 3 matches once a week on either Thursday or Friday from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM PST against the same team. You score a point for each individual game win that adds to your season total. After the regular season, the top team from each pool will move on straight to the second week of playoffs and the remaining teams will battle it out in a final qualifier over 3 days of play.
Every player will be decked out like the pros in their custom C9TG League jersey complete with your team name, IGN name, and position played at no extra cost. Made from the same materials and from the same manufacture as our pro players, you’ll be ready to hit game day like a real team.
While all of our coaches are ranked in the top 1% of all players in North America, that’s not why they’re the best. They have years of experience training teams and coaching individuals with a proven track record of player improvement
TG Coaches were hired from a huge pool of applicants, and had to pass through a rigorous hiring process. This included background checks and multiple interviews to determine both how they think about, and teach, their game. Over the past two years and after thousands of reviews, TG coaches average a 4.8/5 rating by the players they coach.
All of our TG League coaches are Positive Coaching Alliance certified through their “Developing The Triple-Impact Competitor” course. PCA believes that all youth can benefit from a positive, inclusive sports culture that develops social and emotional skills, molds character, and prepares them for competition and life. In more than two decades of work, PCA expanded from a small local nonprofit to a strong, nationwide organization that provides programming in all 50 states, reaching thousands of organizations around the country and positively impacting millions of youth athletes every year. PCA has now partnered with roughly 3,500 schools and youth sports organizations nationwide to deliver more than 20,000 live group workshops, reaching over 20 million youth
All of our coaches have a teacher mindset and are dedicated to making your practice space a top-tier learning environment. Your coach will provide you with many growth opportunities, and when you finish training with us, you will have learned the importance of critical thinking and self-evaluation. These skills will allow you to improve at a much more rapid pace than your peers.
Our tryouts are designed to make the most even teams possible to create the most competitive and fair environment of any League nationwide. You will spend three hours a day for three days in tryouts hosted by our coaching staff who will view, score, and evaluate your performance. After these three sessions, the coaches will get together and draft teams based on what they saw during tryouts. You will then be placed in a group of 10 with your newly assigned coach and have a fourth day of play. On this final day, your coach will try different lineups and groupings to make the two teams as even as possible so you can rep plays and scrim internally throughout the course of the league. Once your team of five is finally selected you will stay with them for the remainder of the season
During the regular season, you will have one practice day and one match day. Your match day will be assigned on either Thursday or Friday and will be determined by the end of tryouts. Both playoff weeks, you’ll be expected to play on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday if you continue to progress deeper into the postseason.
*Your registration payment acts as a placeholder for your spot in TG League but is not a guarantee that you will be admitted. To account for fairness we will be capped on participation due to the following factors: Coaching availability, fairness of competition, removal of smurf accounts and bad actors. Anyone removed from the pre-selection phase (before tryouts) will be issued a refund in full, immediately.
Week 1 (tryouts)
*Only one of these two days will be your match day which will be determined at the end of tryouts
**Note that you are expected to make all practices and matches. We reserve the right to replace you for poor attendance.
Signing up and paying does not guarantee you a place in the upcoming league. This is ONLY a deposit and will be fully refunded if you are not selected (all refunds will be processed on 2/16/22) . No further payment will be necessary to compete. Because we are intent on making the most competitive teams possible, we will curate a pool that we feel will be the most competitive with each other. After registration closes we will spend a few days putting together the most competitive groups from the pool and will notify you by 2/15/22 Date if you’ve been selected for not. Those selected will move forward with tryouts and those that are not selected will receive a refund in full.
